Original Poster commissioned by the operators of the Gurtenbahn in 1949 from Bernese artist Hugo Wyler to mark the 50th anniversary. However, it was then created by his student Ronald Kocher (*1929), who depicted the inhabitants of Bern as ladybugs climbing up a flower stem – symbolizing their good fortune, because the funicular railway takes them effortlessly from Köniz to Bern’s local mountain at almost any time (and still does today). A cute and lovely Vintage Poster – so cute and lovely, that Wyler wanted to sign it while Kocher came away empty-handed.
