Lovely Original Poster by Donald Brun from the mid-1950s; this is the virtually untraceable variant with the jet logo introduced by Rudolf Bircher in 1953 (bottom left) and the lettering by Heini Gantenbein that Bircher refreshed in the same work process, which shaped the presentation of Swissair – and thus of Switzerland – for 25 years.
The quality of Bircher’s visual language as well as its consistent implementation made Swissair the world’s first airline to adopt an actual corporate identity – one of the reasons for its excellent reputation, from which Switzerland also benefited.
